A trio of Perseid meteors streaking from left to right away from the radiant point in Perseus off frame at left, and down the summer Milky Way in Cygnus and Lyra. The meteors display the characteristic transition from green to red along their ionization path. The framing includes the Summer Triangle stars,Deneb,Vega and Altair.

A session shooting deep-sky objects in the rural backyard in Alberta, on a chilly November night, November 8, 2018. I was using the Celestron 8 HD tube assembly on the Astro-Physics Mach One mount, and was shooting Messier 27 with the Canon 6 D MkII. I shot this image with the Sony a7III and Venus Optics 15mm lens at f/2 focused on the foreground.

A nightscape photographer from one of my workshops, shooting in the moonlight at Red Rock Canyon, in Waterton Lakes National Park, Alberta. Clouds partly obscure the gibbous Moon but add a colourful iridescent corona around the Moon, which is reflected in the Red Rock Canyon Creek. This is an HDR stack of 5 exposures with the 14mm lens and Canon 6D, to preserve detail in the bright clouds and the disk of the Moon, and in the dark shadows.

A composite of several exposures to stack images of five Geminid meteors into a wide view of the winter sky with Comet Wirtanen at upper right in Taurus, taken on December 12, 2018. The meteors are shooting away from the radiant point in Gemini near the bluish-white star Castor at left. The Milky Way runs vertically through the frame from Auriga at top to past Orion at bottom.

A composite of the Perseid meteor shower, on the peak night, Aug 11/12, 2016, looking northeast to the radiant point in Perseus left of centre, with the Pleiades and Hyades clusters in Taurus rising. There are 33 meteors here. Note the fairly consistent green to red tint of each meteor streak. A couple of streaks look more white and might be flaring satellites though their trajectory matches where a Perseid should be.

Two lone Lyrid meteors on the peak of the meteor shower night,April 22,2023. Two captured out of 342 frames taken over 2 hours. The sky and ground come from the exposure with the bright meteor on it,when a dim aurora was also on the northeast horizon. The bright meteor shows the classic green to pink gradient of colours. Vega and Lyra are rising at lower centre. Deneb and Cygnus are at left. Arcturus is at upper right.

The 2016 Perseid meteor shower, in a view looking north to the Big Dipper and with the radiant point in Perseus at upper right, the point where the meteors appear to be streaking from. I shot this on the peak night of the shower, August 11/12 after moonset so the sky was dark and in fact filled with bright airglow, appearing here as bands of green and yellow, mixed with a low-level aurora to the north as well. While it looks like the sky has artificial light pollution, the glows here are natural, from aurora and airglow.
