In the center of Taipei/Taiwan is the impressive Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall. Together with the surrounding park, it occupies a total area of 240,000 square meters. It was built between 1976 and 1980 in honor of the long-time president and supreme military commander of the Republic of China, Chiang Kai-shek (1878 - 1975).
