Marktplatz (market place square) in the centrum of Wismar. Commandant's house\n\nThe commandant's house is on the south side of the market square, opposite the town hall. It was built in the late 16th or early 17th century, was acquired by the city of Wismar during the Thirty Years' War and was used as a Swedish commandant's house. From 1646 to 1647 one of the most famous Swedish commanders lived here - General Helmuth von Wrangel (approx. 1600-1647). The duplex was completely rebuilt in 1801.
