The passage of the SpaceX G2-9 Starlink group at about 3:30 am on May 15,2023,with the satellite chain still bright five days after its May 10 launch from Vandenburgh Air Force Base in California. This is most of the group, though a bright leader satellite did pass by a minute prior following the same path. The satellites were predicted to be magntiude 3.0 but appear as bright as first magnitude stars. This is looking northwest toward the Big Dipper at top. The glow of morning twilight brightening the sky. The satellite train is traveling from left to right here, from southwest to north. This is

A telescopic closeup of Comet Lovejoy (C/2014 Q2) on January 19, 2015. I shot this from near Silver City, New Mexico, using a TMB 92mm apo refractor at f/4.4 and using a Canon 6D at ISO 1600 for a stack of 4 x 5 minute exposures. The ion tail is primarily from a single exposure to minimize blurring from the comet’s motion relative to the stars. The rest of the image is from the stacked combination to minimize noise.

The region of the Southern Cross, Crux, at left and around the Carina Nebula, at right. To the left of the Southern Cross is the dark Coal Sack. Open star clusters around the Carina Nebula are NGC 3532 (at upper left of nebula), IC 2602, the Southern Pleiades (below the nebula), and NGC 3114 (right of nebula). Taken on a hazy night, so the glows around stars are natural and not introduced from a filter. Excelsior Geyser Crater is about 100 yards north of Grand Prismatic Spring and two of the main attraction n Yellowstone National Park. Excelsior last erupted in the 1880s, throwing water perhaps as high as 300 feet and discharging enough water to raise the level of the nearby Firehole River by up to a foot. Excelsior Geyser Crater is still producing an impressive amount of hot water, about 3000 gallons a minute; Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, United States of America
