A composite of the Perseid meteor shower, on the peak night, Aug 11/12, 2016, looking northeast to the radiant point in Perseus left of centre, with the Pleiades and Hyades clusters in Taurus rising. There are 33 meteors here. Note the fairly consistent green to red tint of each meteor streak. A couple of streaks look more white and might be flaring satellites though their trajectory matches where a Perseid should be.

One of a short series of images showing the development of an aurora display from a classic arc into a more complex pattern of concentric arcs and with loops and swirls. This was Feb 5, 2019 from the Churchill Northern Studies Centre. The outburst lasted only 5 minutes or so and might have been due to the Bz interplanetary field turning south briefly. After this series, the display faded and fractured into faint arcs and a diffuse glow across the sky.

The open star cluster NGC 1528,at left,accompanied by the emission nebula NGC 1491,at right,aka the Fossil Footprint Nebula,both in Perseus. The very red star below NGC 1528 is SY Persei. The faint nebula at centre is unidentified – the nebulas Sharpless 2-209 and Sharpless 2-206 are in the area but their positions on the TriAtlas do not coincide with the nebula recorded here. Nor is it marked on any other atlas I was able to check. But the TriAtlas might plot the Sharpless nebulas incorrectly. But photos on-line label this object as Sh2-209. The bright star at bottom right is Lambda Persei.
